Computational Modeling of Geotechnical Systems
This research develops advanced computational and multiphysics models for soils, rocks, and other geomaterials under complex environmental and mechanical conditions. The work focuses on coupled thermal–hydraulic–mechanical (THM) processes, including heat transfer, water and vapor transport, deformation, soil suction, and nonlinear material behavior.
Using finite-element and numerical methods, these models are applied to problems such as unsaturated soil behavior, slope stability, landslides, soil–atmosphere interactions, and geotechnical infrastructure performance. The goal is to improve predictive capabilities and support the design of safer, more resilient, and sustainable geotechnical systems.
